You're To Kill a Mockingbird!
by Harper Lee
Perceived as a revolutionary and groundbreaking person, you have changed the minds of many people. While questioning the authority around you, you've also taken a significant amount of flack. But you've had the admirable guts to persevere. There's a weird guy in the neighborhood using dubious means to protect you, but you're pretty sure it's worth it in the end. In the end, it remains unclear to you whether finches and mockingbirds get along in real life.

So I've been having a fairly lovely week. I've had a multitude of midterms but I've done fairly well. I watched the Fellowship of the Ring, I understand it a lot better after reading the book.
Yesterday Laurie was sick at work and she was totally spacey. At about 8 I went up to the desk after vacuuming and Laurie was counting up a till (about a half hour early) and then she started going on about how behind we were cause we still had to mop and finish straightening, and the till wasn't adding up... I was like "Laurie, calm down, we still have another hour to finish everything" She thought it was 9 already. It was halarious.
Anyway so this is what's on my mind right now... I went into Coles to talk to Hervinder. I didn't see her there so I talk to Laurie for a minute. Laurie introduces me to our district manager Bliss. I talk to Bliss and he asks me about school and so on. Then he says that he's had a talk to Hervinder that morning and she was leaving the company. So I decided in about 30 seconds whether I would stay or not. I told him I was going to quit. So I'm pretty frazzled right now. I just quit my job of two years, and I'm hella upset that they fired the best boss ever. I think I'm going to go buy a lot of stuff. That might cheer me up. I'm not sure when I'll get a new job. It might be right away or I might wait a few weeks.

[17 Feb 2004|11:16am] |
Well on Saturday I did....absolutely nothing. Well until nine anyway. At nine I picked up Krista and we scoured the city looking for a copy of Lost in Translation. We finally found one at the fourth video store. It was their second-last copy. Then Krista remembers that she had to go visit her aunt and uncle, so up we went to Gregoire for a little taste of Newfoundland in the middle of Fort Mac. We had a lovely time (*hacks up a lung from smoke inhalation*). They were unfortunatly, quite similar to my own family. Then we went home and watched Lost in Translation, which was pretty good I guess. Krista left the rest of her pizza. My dog thought it was delicious.
Sunday I worked with Hervinder. Good times were had by all. Luckily Hervinder hates paperwork so I did that for her instead of shelving. I cut myself with one of those box cutting knives. It's all Hervinder's fault. If she wouldn't have gotten the receipt paper stuck in the till I never would have had to dislodge it with a knife. I was stubborn and kept helping the customer, and least until the blood was about to start dripping on the computer. At work we have really stupid looking band aids. They're suppossed to look like tattoos or something. Mine had a dolphin on it or some crap. I was ashamed.
Then yesterday it finally hit me that I had a history midterm coming up and I hadn't really done much studying. I spent the entire day in my pajamas with my history notebook. I didn't move the whole day except to get food. I started studying at one and finished just in time to watch Conan O'Brian. I love Conan. I'm going to marry him.
I had my history midterm this morning. It went very well I think. I'm quite pleased. I have psych next. Hopefully we'll get our midterms back. I think I did quite well on that one too. I've decided to reward myself for all my hard work this weekend. Today I'm finishing The Fellowship of the Ring and watching the movie again. I'd have popcorn too, but my mom bought diet popcorn cause she's a crackhead.
Anyway, I should be leaving for psych.

I had my psych midterm today. And I kicked it's ass! I finished in about 20 minutes. Then I went home and did some anthro studying.
We had academic council which was purely agonizing. Normally it's bad, but this time it was reeeeally bad.
To waste time we got some KFC and then went to Walmart. They're changing everything around in Walmart which is confusing and upsetting.
Then we went to see the Sound of Music. It was lovely. Good times were had by all, well, except for the screaming babies, they sounded rather upset. I think babies should have to be checked at the door like coats and pagers.
Krista and I had the funniest conversation while driving home. We were talking about us when we were 35, having our "Sex and the City" conversations. Krista would be married to Cedrick, her second husband. Patti would be madly in love with Fredrick, her new fling. And I would try to be involved in the conversations by saying, "well, my last serious boyfriend Justin...." lol, it was halarious. Mmmm self-depreciation. Krista promised to pick me up a hooker if I haven't dated anyone by the age of 25
I have a midterm tomorrow morning that I still need to do a lot of studying for...

Wow, I'm updating again. I'm so ambitious.
I forgot to put in my contacts this morning. What's even stranger is that I didn't even notice until I was at school. I had history and psych. Yawn.
Then I went to Krista's house, which smelled like curry. We booked hotels. My car got stuck in the snow outside of her house and Brent was on his way out to give it a push when I finally got it moving. Yay, I love that car!
I went home to do some studying and my brother had some friends over and they were watching some horror movie in the next room. It was highly irritating, a lot of chainsaw noises. I did two chapters of psych, three chapters of anthro, and one chapter of history. Go me.
Time for bed now.

I don't remember much about what I've been up to, but, here goes...
Friday and Saturday I worked. I shelved. It was epic. Everyone but me went out Saturday night but I decided to stay home cause I was sick.
On Sunday I bought some jeans and had a staff meeting.
Today I had a mediocre day at school. Poly sci went rather quickly. Afterwards Krista and I went to the mall. We went to Silver Sense and Hallmark and le Chateau. I bought a "seafoam" coloured shirt and the most beautiful pair of shoes in the world. Afterwards I came home and did my essay in two hours.
I have two midterms this week. Yay, lucky me.
Elizabeth has to stop claiming all of the single guys for herself. She now has a limit of three.
I'm going to bed.

Well I guess I have a whole week to talk about.
Monday...hmm what happened Monday? Oh yeah, Peter didn't show up and I had him for both of my classes so I went to school (and stayed at school) for nothing. Ashley, Krista, and I went to Tim Hortons during our cancelled anthro. I had a two spares in which I studying psych and then I joined the ladies for lunch. Monday night we had English, which was uneventful.
Tuesday I had history and psych. We got to watch this lovely video in psych about caregiver-infant bonding. It was very poorly animated, which made it quite entertaining.
Today anthro was almost cancelled cause Peter's car was stuck in his driveway. He showed up about 10 minutes late looking humourously disheveled. Krista and Patti weren't around during spares so I entertained myself with history studying (mmm trench warfare...) Then I had poly sci, where we learned about passing a bill and then we watched some of the speech from the throne. It was horribly boring and no one really paid too much attention. Then I hung around with Elizabeth for a while talking about boys, and sex and marriage. Danielle is getting married, isn't that crazy. Wow, I feel so old.
Anyhow, I think I'll go get something to eat.

So I was cleaning out the trash can at my email when I realized I had a Sent folder that has been untouched and still contained messages from a year ago.
I had some good times looking through all of them
There's a message to Justin entitled "hey Billy", I can't remember what that was from but I bet it was funny. Maybe it was southpark
I have a big collection of emails from the "julia" stage. Super. I skipped past those.
A rejected commencement speech quote from topfive.com
Simon Cowell: "You have *got* to be the stupidest-looking graduates I've *ever* seen. I'm serious. You may as well just give up on life right now and go home and hang yourselves."
And finally.... Singing balls to your partner Ass against the wall If you've never been screwed on Saturday night You've never been screwed at all!
Okay, now I'll do some homework I promise

Last night Krista and I hung out. We went out and got some snacks and then watched many episodes of Sex and the City. I love that show. I'm so much like Miranda it's creepy.
Today we went to Peter's for our UN meeting/ superbowl party. The game started off pretty slow, but eventually it got interesting. And by interesting I mean I still really didn't care that much but Peter and Neil did. Anyway, it was lots of fun. The commercials were awesome.
I think I may go to bed now, or at the very least, go take my contacts out.

Yesterday Krista and I went to history class and then skipped anthro. I locked my keys in my car cause I'm awesome. I had to take my mom's van home so I could get the spare keys.
Krista and I went out Mary Brown's and had some Newfie chicken and then we went to Shoppers so I could blow my $75 worth of optimum points. I got lots of lip gloss and eyeliner. I spent about a hundred dollars. I bought some clear lip gloss which cost $14! Patti is it possible to return things? We spent so long in Shoppers that my car was covered with snow by the time we got out.
I went to work and listened to Norah talk for a long time. I tried to be more pleasant to customers in preparation of being a waitress.
We went out to Don Cherry's later. We had quite a good time. The twins and I went to the bathroom about a thousand times. It was too bad Ben and Riley weren't there, their entertaining drunken banter is always entertaining. It's definately an awesome experience I gained from dating Ben.
Tonight Krista and I are watching Sex and the City. Should be entertaining.

*grumbles* I'm stuck at school cause I locked my keys in my car. I'm awsome! Later Krista and I are going to Shoppers to redeem my $75 worth of points. Should be fun.
We're skipping anthro right now. It's useless anyway.
I've started a quest to find the warmest place in the school to study. So far the place next to the computer lounge on the second floor is the warmest but there are no seats or anything, and the floor is kinda chilly. The lounge next to the lecture theatre is quite comfy. I was there yesterday during my two hour spare. A guy came and sat down and fell asleep. Then two girls showed up and ate some A&W and left. There's a room nearby filled with adults who are all loud and dumb as rocks. They are quite incapable of answering the phone. They let it go for about six rings and then one of them says "The phone is ringing" and the other one says "well answer it". There's an idea! Then some guy comes out of the room and starts asking everyone around for a cigarette. I could hear him mooching all the way down the hallway.
On Sunday we're going to Peter's (my poly sci prof) house to watch the super bowl and plan the UN debate. We're going to be China. It should be awesome.
Anyway, this is pretty boring. I want to go home now.

Meatloaf - I Would Do Anything For Love |
] |
My brother was on his way out of the house when he realized that he had left the garage door open again. He told his girlfriend about how my dad had yelled at him yesterday cause he left the garage door open. He then left. A few minutes later my dad looked into the garage and saw that the door was open. He was pissed, as usual, and he started yelling at me (obviously he found out that I had told on him the day before). I was arguing with him, trying to explain that the garage door was broken and it kept opening again and it wasn't Aaron's fault. Then my mom came home and he grumbled to her. They started arguing cause my mom is sick of my dad treating my brother the way he does. He kept saying my brother was stupid yesterday and today he defended saying that. He said my brother was irrisponsible and stupid. My mom wondered what he would do if he actually had bad kids. So they yelled at each other for a while and then my dad left for work. I've only ever witnessed one or two fights between my parents in my lifetime. I burst into tears after my dad left. I feel so bad for my mom cause she has to put up with my dad. My mom doesn't think my dad actually likes my brother, and she plans to confront him about it. I think they'll probably get a divorce if things continue this way, though I'd prefer if they waited until me and my brother have moved out.
anyway... my dad's an asshole

Well, I'm at school on my spare. Apparently this is considered fun to some people.
Yesterday I had history and psych. We were a little late for history due to the blinding fog and an accident holding up traffic. It was so damn cold outside, it's frickin ridiculous. I hate this city. Of course Edmonton's not much better.
Anyway, then I went home, my contacts were killing me and I spent a good deal of time sleeping. My dad was yelling at my brother. My brother accidently left the garage door open and my dad had a fit. The big cry baby. He yelled at my brother for a while for being so stupid, so when my mom came home I told on my dad.
I had weird dreams last night (this was one of the highlights of my day). In one dream I was really mad at my mom and I kept yelling at her and saying things that should have made her really mad. And then it morphed into a dream where I was doing some carpentry really high in the air and I was freaking out because of the height. There was a very nice, cute guy with short curly black hair helping me. My dreams also had an eighties soundtrack. First there was that "Rush, rush" song with Keanu Reeves in the video and then there was a Phil Collins song. I'll look them up on Kazzaa later and see which songs they were.
edit: found the songs..."Rush Rush" by Paula Abdul and "Misunderstanding" by Genesis. My dream soundtrack kicks ass!

Ozzy Osbourne - Mama I'm Coming Home |
] |
(-Norah)
I haven't posted all weekend cause I really haven't done much of anything.
Friday I worked, and then I came home, read some Cosmo, and went to bed.
Saturday I worked all day. To make my day more pleasant, customers asked two of my favourite questions... "Is there going to be a chapters soon?" "HA! Noooooo!" "Does this book come in paperback?" "HA! Noooooo!" I went home and fell asleep around 9 o'clock.
The next morning I did a whole lot of nothing until my mom called and asked if I wanted to go grocery shopping. So I put on some blush, attacked my hair with hairspray, and went shopping in my pjs (well technically they were sweatpants). We got a whole lot of crackers and I got my mom to buy me a daffodil plant for my apartment. I checked the prices of everything so I'll know for when I move out.
So all weekend I got absolutely no homework done. I fail at everything. Oh well *yawn* I'm gonna go do some of that homework now.
